Principal's Message

Dear AELC Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am honored and excited to begin my first year as Principal of the Addison Early Learning Center and my 20th year serving students and families in District 4. Our staff and I cannot wait to welcome students back into our classrooms and hallways. We look forward to partnering with families to support each child's social, emotional, and academic growth throughout the year.

Family involvement is an essential part of children's success. As a child's first teachers and role models, parents and caregivers play a critical role in their development. No matter your educational background or the language you speak, there are many ways to support your child and stay connected with our school. We communicate through email, Facebook, Instagram, Seesaw, ParentSquare, and school events throughout the year. Please be sure to read the weekly S'more newsletter that I send each Friday morning. It can be translated into many languages and is the best way to stay informed about upcoming events and important reminders.

Never hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. It is also important to stay informed about what your child is learning. Your child's teacher will keep you updated, but please connect with us if you notice your child struggling or if you would like ideas for supporting learning and independence at home.

Another important way to help your child succeed is by encouraging strong attendance. Students benefit from arriving on time and attending school consistently. Whenever possible, we encourage families to schedule vacations during school breaks. Our family support specialist and I will continue working with families to support strong attendance and remove barriers when needed.

At the AELC, we are committed to providing engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support the whole child. We use Creative Curriculum to provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities across all developmental areas. We also utilize Michael Heggerty's phonemic awareness curriculum to build early literacy skills and Second Step to help students develop important social-emotional skills, including self-regulation, empathy, and problem-solving. Through our School Improvement Plan and ongoing staff development, we will continue focusing on strengthening children's early literacy and cognitive skills while also supporting positive behaviors, self-regulation, and social-emotional development. Our goal is to ensure that every child develops the foundational skills needed for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Thank you for being such an important part of the Addison Early Learning Center community. I look forward to getting to know your family and witnessing the incredible growth our students will achieve this year. Together, we will make the 2026–2027 school year a wonderful one for every child.
